Well fans of Detective Conan were probably surprised when after the Detective Conan episode 554 aired that Mouri Kogoro's voice had changed.No it wasn't puberty, Kamiya Akira was dismissed from the show. Kamiya did not release the reasons why, but admitted that it was mainly he who was to blame.
Kamiya Akira was replaced with the voice actor Rikiya Koyama. It takes some time to get used to the voice, but Koyama will soon grow on us all!
who say it will grow on us... its so weird that i cant stand it i like kamiya akira bcoz his voice is already applied to mouri kogoro and this would be 4eva and i dont think anyone can replace him...
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. The old voice was so much better. I just made it to the episode in question and I was not pleased at all with the voice change.
ReplyDeleteYeah I am not a fan.....It sounds a lot better with the old voice actor....oh well hopefully it will grow on us. The stories are still really fun!
ReplyDeleteI made it to the episode of the change and felt it was off, and then afterward I realised it was a different VA. It was a poor choice to replace him for any reason. The new one may have been around for 100+ episodes, but he is AWFUL as Kogoro. He's too serious, unlike the original nice, hyperactive one.
ReplyDeleteREALLY. I just knew it now! I wondered the whole time why the voice in the movie 14 was so #$%^#%^&! I thought he was just gone for that movie 'cause I haven't reached yet the episode where the voice actor was changed. Reallyyyyy! I am so mean but I just miss the old one. The new is just so off. I could at least stand the Kogoro in the live action but not the anime dubber. Sorry for the rant. I just feel... Ugh~
ReplyDeleteWhen you change the voice after a character has been imprinted into our brains, the brain will reject it. This is an actor so they should get the actor to either be more like the old Kogoro get a new actor. Damian has it right on. The new actor makes me think this is a different show..

ReplyDeleteThe way kogoro talks...the way he snickers, gets high over alcohol and yoko, and scolds conan I.e. bozu instead of gakincho .. they are all so different... everytime I watch detectivie conan I look forward to his funny words and sound effects and conan countering him with his sarcasm.. now all the humor are gone.. It doesnt feel the same as before when I watch dc... ;A;

ReplyDeleteI agree. The new voice is just awful. I loved the way his voice sounded gruff. That gruff voice made for the perfect voice for a private detective, I think.
ReplyDeleteI hope the director will notice these feedbacks. It is true that new voice of kogoro changed so badly unlike the old one. At least find someone who sound a like the old one or just use some editing skills voice cause seriously, mouri is not funny as before. I like the old voice of him especially when he is scolding conan or making some sarcasm jokes. well there are almost 300 episodes aired after the replacement of mouri. I hope you change it again like old voice before as soon as possible. Die hard fan concerned here

The writing is terrible too, in the next Conan hint they literally just gave the answer to the mystery of the next episode...
I got here googling about the voice actor, hoping it would get good again, seeing as the series has changed directors a lot (none as good as the first one )
I just finished episode 554 and it annoys me like crazy, however I will still continue watching and hope that I'll ignore that the voice was changed. Hope people won't give up watching Case Closed cause it's such a great series, I can't wait to keep watching and see how Conan (Shinichi) faces another case:)

ReplyDeleteI just finished episode 553 and heard it again in episode 554. I thought it would be like the case of Mitsuhiko that changed voice actor due to illness. I really need to hear his voice hoarse and annoying, hehe. I hope they don't change the voices of Conan, Shinichi or Ran. I really wouldn't like that much.

My roommate was slightly more tolerant, but I saw in his eyes his soul getting crushed the moment the Conan hint for the red wall mystery was spray paint.

Stop watching the anime? Insulting the voice or showing hate in a bad way? Even going as far as insulting the writing which I hope you mean the filler episodes because the writing comes from Gosho Aoyama himself since the manga is the inspiration.
I think this an incredible exaggeration honestly.
Sure it's not the same one and sure most of us prefer the older one.
But thanks to this other guy Kogoro is still alive and frankly it isn't as bad as you say.
Get used to it and keep loving DC, be more positive, guys!
changing the VA halfway isn't really the best idea. ma, I hope i'll manage to grow with the new Kogorou as well. DC LIVES ON!
ReplyDeleteI started to rewatch DC in 2020 (yeah because of Coronavirus) and now on ep 553 and man, I was so surprised with Mouri Kogoro’s voice. His hoarse and annoying voice has grown on me ever since ep 1, and they changed it to completely different voice. I didn’t even realize that the voice changed back then when I was still in elementary school, maybe because I skipped several episodes. I am okay if it is drama or any series, but replacing VA on anime when all we focus on is their voices? No, it doesn’t convince me. I am still going to watch DC though, maybe it will grow on me after hundreds episodes.

Actually I paused the moment he said a sentence so I still have more to watch and I'm sure it'll be hard to get used to. I'm not really angry about it but it'll be hard-
